At least 16 people were killed in shootings and explosions across the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on Saturday, police said.
In one attack, roadside bombs went off in an outdoor market. In another, a car bomb exploded in a Shiite procession commemorating the death of an imam.
Along with the deaths, at least 36 people were wounded.
Iraq has been beset by Sunni-Shiite sectarian violence and political strife this year. More than 8,000 people were killed in acts of violence across the country over the year
